Our Purpose
The Holland Film Group came together to tell how Holland came to be a vibrant, successful community. It aimed to explore the historical bedrock and the modern dynamics of that community. It documented events, personalities, natural resources, and other factors involved in six key characteristics from Holland’s past to its present that contributed to the success of the community.
Our Goal
The Holland community enjoys a legacy from those people who came before. Our task was to document and pass along that legacy. Our goal is to inform current residents – through local showings, community groups and business use – as well as visitors, and, particularly, future generations, through various educational venues.
Our Task
A team of historians, writers, civic leaders, business people and others formed the Holland Film Group and developed the documentary over an 18-month period.
The Group collaborated to shape a 9,000-word script and oversee 1,000 hours of planning and production.
The film was funded with community support from more than 70 donors.
35 community members were interviewed on camera, generating some 800 minutes of film footage that was edited into an 80-minute film.
